File this under BAD IDEA

"A Texas school district will let teachers bring guns to class this fall, the district's superintendent said on Friday, in what experts said appeared to be a first in the United States." (Reuters)

This, to me, is stupidity at it's finest. I could go on for hours telling you why I think this is a bad idea.... why it makes me (both as a former teacher & a general member of society) cringe, but instead I want to offer a LOGICAL SOLUTION. According to the superintendent of Harrold Independent School District, the school is about a half-hour's drive from the nearest Sheriff's office. They worry this makes them an easy target.

Wouldn't a School Resource Officer be a better idea? My high school had two... my elementary & middle schools each had one respectively.

A full-time, on-campus, crisis-trained, armed... police officer.

Do they not have School Resource Officers in Texas?
