Magical Smoothies

Are you an ice cream lover?

Ever since our days in the dorms, Tim and I have *enjoyed* ice cream treats. Leave me alone with a carton of Breyer's Extra Creamy Chocolate Ice Cream and see what you have left... I dare you :)

Until recently...we've replaced our ice cream craving with smoothies. We feel a healthier option.

Basic Ingredients:
Frozen Strawberries
Banana
OJ (with Calcium)
Yogurt

Tim is by nature a "strawberry-banana purist." It takes some coaxing to get him to add other ingredients. I, however, would add the kitchen sink if it would fit in the cup. At risk of sounding like an infomercial, the great thing about the Magic Bullet is we can make different smoothies without the mess of the blender (The Magic Bullet is also dishwasher safe!).

My Other Favorite Add-ins:
Protein Powder
~ more Frozen Fruit ~
cherries, blackberries, blueberries, peaches, etc.
Milk

From the top: Yogurt, Strawberries, Banana, OJ

The blending process...

Tim used to think there was something *magical* about smoothie making. He would come ask me to make it every time. A while ago, we sat down to make one together (The whole teach a man to fish thing). Since he saw how easy it is...he has been a completely independent smoothie maker. Often times fixing both of ours!

It's an all-purpose chopper, dicer, mincer, pureer!

Our other favorite uses for the Magic Bullet:
Fresh Sorbet
Fresh Salsa
Bean Dips
Quesadilla Filling
Fresh Salad Dressing
Omelettes
Muffin Batter
Chocolate Mousse (!)
Chocolate Mocha Coffee
Milkshakes
Protein Shakes
Margaritas

The possibilities are endless!

A tasty treat!

That was a seriously great infomerical! I've been experimenting with smoothie making to help Kate (who wants to eat everything and refuses to eat babyfood) have more access to more foods. My theory is that if she can drink it through a straw, she won't think it's baby food. (So far, the theory is not working too well, but it's in early stages.)

I think a Magic Bullet investment could be in our future!

As an aside -- have you ever tried soy milk in smoothies? Personally, I think it tastes a bit better than regular (cow's) milk and I'd be curious to what you all thought.

We are sold on the Magic Bullet!

I have actually never tried soy milk in a smoothie. I usually put in soy protein powder, but never thought about adding a little soy milk.

We'll try it and get back to you!

You are the second person to RAVE about the Magic Bullet to me. I might have to break down and get one, especially now that we don't have a blender OR a food processor since we have moved.
