Chapter 2: The Cloud-Watcher

A couple weeks into the semester I was walking back to the dorms from my Friday morning class (College Algebra). As I approached the building, I noticed a guy laying flat on the concrete in the middle of the courtyard. At first I thought he might be asleep, maybe hurt or drunk? This was a college campus after all, any of those could very well be possibilities. As I approached, I carefully eyed him still trying to deduce what was actually going on. He looked up & caught me staring ~ definitely not asleep!

The moment of awkwardness was broken when he asked me to join him.... sitting on the ground.

"What are you doing?" I asked apprehensively.
"Watching the clouds roll by," he said & he followed it up by pointing out several formations.

I was intrigued enough to take him up on his offer... I had an hour break until my next class. We ended up chatting for quite a while that day on topics ranging from the clouds to classes to where 'home' was. I headed to Intro. to Ed. directly from the courtyard ~ never actually returning to my dorm room ~ and thinking the cloud-watcher was a pretty cool guy.

"Maybe I'll see him around again."

(to be continued)
