My brother is embarking on a trip to Northern California this week with his Biology Honors class. The purpose of the trip is mainly to see Redwoods & compare them to local Cyprus trees, but they are doing so much more while they're there. In no particular order, they will be seeing:

- 'Starlight stroll' though the valley
- Educational/guided tour lead by park naturalists
- Skiing in Badger Pass
- San Francisco Bay area (3 nights)
- walking across the Golden Gate Bridge
- Fisherman's Warf
- Alcatraz
- Pier 39
- Hard Rock Cafe
- the Exploratorium
- Jelly Belly Facotry
- M.H. de Young Museum at Golden Gate Park
- North Beach waterfront attractions
- Walking tour through Little Italy & Chinatown
- Driving through Salinas Valley & Silicon Valley
- Sequoia National Park (2 nights)
- The famous General Grant
- Several educational/guided tours with Sequoia Field Institute naturalists
- Kings Canyon National Park
- Educational/guided tour lead by field institute naturalists
- Ano Nuevo State Park (2 nights)
- Driving through Santa Cruz Mountains
- Travel by steam train through the Redwoods
- Santa Cruz beach & pier
- Monterey Peninsula
- Monterey Aquarium
- Dinner at Bubba Gump's
- The "17-Mile Drive"
- Carmel-by-the-Sea
- Opportunities along the way for skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, snow tubing, snow shoing, hiking, bicycling, or horseback riding
Although I was lucky enough to travel to Mexico during high school, I'm still very jealous of this trip!! I just wish they needed some young & hip chaperones.... Tim & I are both very experienced chaperones! If we could keep a bunch of first graders in line then we could surely handle high schoolers, right? On second thought... high schoolers... without parents... for over a week... nevermind!
