A Tale of Two Mailboxes

The Facts: Tim and I got home from the doctor's office at about 11:00 a.m. and all was fine. When I walked out the door at 4:45 p.m., the mailbox was on the ground run over & flattened. The pole remained standing. I looked up the street to see if ours was the only one... it was. I pulled the mailbox out of the yard from where it had been implanted.

The Feelings: I felt violated. My personal property was destroyed while I was merely 15 feet away.

The Fix:
We called the mailbox people and within two hours they were out installing our new mailbox. They were gone within 10 minutes.

The Conclusion: It happened in the middle of the day so we basically ruled out a neighbor kid learning to drive. In fact, at that time of day almost everyone in our neighborhood is either at work or in school. We were left only with the thought of the 'work trucks' that go by our house dozens of times a day. They are enroute to the empty lots in the back of the neighborhood. We think one somehow got out of hand and clipped our mailbox. I wonder if they even noticed...
