Shell Point by Golf Cart

One of our favorite past times when visiting Shell Point...
golf cart rides!

Since going to college it's been a tradition for my parents' to ride me around to see the any new development (because there's always a new house going up or something going on). Lately Shell Point has undergone dramatic changes and it has many more in store. The picture you see below used to be a winding paved road, dry docks, & a marina. On the other side of it was a hotel & restraurant. All of that was torn down, now it's empty land or the new construction you see.

'The Resort at Shell Point' is going to be a very upscale development
nestled smack in the middle of a longtime-quiet fishing & boating community. In addition to the 35 new homes and 52 condos, it includes a 'hotel beach club' with a restaurant, open deck, tiki bar, grill area, offices, a 200 slip marina with boat ramp, AND *valet* trailer parking.

Yowza ~
that's a whole-lotta stuff!!

All of this stuck on the tip of a little peninsula,
cut off by a Nature Preserve on one side & the Gulf of Mexico on the other.

You can't tell from this picture, but this is one of the bald eagles
that lives in the nature preserve... they come around from time to time! Very cool.

I feel pretty lucky to have gotten the
'natural' Shell Point experience growing up.

There's just something about looking out your window to see this...

...or this...

You gain a certain peacefulness.

The Seafarers Chapel was a perspective site for our wedding!

This is the 'Hurricane Pole' (for lack of a better name).
It shows the estimated water level for each hurricane strength.
You can't see level one, but red is level two,
yellow level three, blue level four, and green level five...
I consider the bird on top good luck!

We always enjoy catching up on Shell Point!!
